Day 4 highlights: Any dream will do

Our last official day in London was spent soaking up the last bits of the city. By now, as you can imagine, I had grown to love this place. In a familiar kind of way, it feels so much like home - only with better weather. I love how the city runs like a well-oiled machine; things are orderly, clean, and civilised. And though that may sound a tat bit boring and regimented, well, it suited me nicely.

We spent a good half of the day shopping. We've become big fans of Lillywhites where we bought soccer jerseys and sports apparels at a fraction of the usual retail price. I also burnt a hole while picking out a pink toga dress and brown skinny pants at Zara. (I console myself by saying that those cost at least 10% more here.) We then went to Crown & Anchor for our last bottle of Magner's and in the process, uncovered the best tasting tortilla chips in town.

The day's highlight, and a fitting closure for London, was watching a West End musical. The popular ones were beyond our budget so we settled for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I've always been drawn to the story of Joseph: a boy who was sold to the Egyptians by his 11 brothers out of jealousy, and who, in a twist of fate, returns years later as Pharaoh's right-hand man. I love how he tests his brothers who came begging for food during a famine and how Joseph revealed his identity after learning that they've repented. The heart-tugger naturally, was to see Jacob reunited with his beloved son - a timeless reminder that God, who protects and loves us, will never ever fail us.

If you have time, feel free to watch the youtube link below. This is the opening scene of the musical and is probably as close as it gets to the real thing (except that the male lead at our show was Gareth Gates instead of Lee Mead):
