Jo takes on the French
In preparation for my trip to Paris this May, I decided to pick up some basic French just for the fun of it (of course knowing too that the French are fiercely proud of their native language). It so happened that one of the PR companies recently sent over a new crash course audio CD for French. Plus, there's an French intern working in my office. Parfait!
I don't know if it's the inner linguistic flair, but I'm enjoying it thoroughly. So pardon me while I practise and show off some of my newly picked up language here. If you know how to speak French, come help me practise!
Comment allez-vous?
(How are you?)
Je vais bien.
(I'm fine.)
Je voudrais un cafe au lait et du sucre s'il vous plait.
(I would like a coffee with milk and some sugar please.)
Je voudrais commander une boisson.
(I would like to order a drink.)
Avez-vous une table pour deux?
(Do you have a table for two?)
Je voudrais manger quelque chose.
(I would like to eat something.)
Pourrais-je avoir...?
(Could I have...)
L'addition, s'il vous plait.
(The bill, please.)
Pas de probleme.
(No problem.)
Je suis perdu.
(I'm lost.)
Je veux aller...
(I want to go...)
Tres bien. Merci. De rien.
(Well done. Thank you. Don't mention it.)
Au revoir.
(Goodbye.)
