It's snowing in Orchard

Some of us travel to Japan to witness the first flowers of the cherry blossoms (which incidentally, started blooming earlier this year due to climate change and urbanisation). Others hike up mountainous regions just to see and feel snow.

Me? I experienced both, right in downtown Orchard Rd yesterday, when the big trees in front of Wheelock started shedding pretty yellow petals which fell to the ground like snow. My first reaction was to stretch out my hands and try to catch them. Then I realised I probably looked like a kuku. So I stopped and settled with being satisfied just smelling the sweet scent of freshly fallen flowers.

It's such an amazing feeling because right there at that moment, God revealed Himself to me through that little big thing - the humongous, shady yet insignificant trees which I've never paid much attention to before (and I've been walking the same path to work for the last 1.5 years).

And that really made my day. To me, it was God's way of saying hello, telling me that He loves me, and reminding me to wear a big smile on my face.

So the next time you walk past Wheelock, do stop for a moment and become aware of God's gentle presence amidst the city's hustle and bustle. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly greeted by some falling yellow petals from heaven.
