Love is in the air

I’m such a sucker for romantic movies. Can’t seem to get enough of them. I think it’s the airy fairy feeling I get when their eyes meet, when they hit it off as strangers, when they start courting, and of cos, when they run into each other’s arms and kiss like crazy. There’s something so enchanting about happily-ever-afters which just warms my heart, no matter what state of mind I’m in.

On my flight to Auckland, the long eight-hour journey, I was thankful to be spoilt for choice with the SQ business class in-flight entertainment system. I must say that the airline is truly something that S’pore can be proud of. Its world-class service left me feeling like a queen. Anyway, I began my movie marathon with Definitely Maybe. Not exactly the top of the pick but I thought a simple bimbotic romantic comedy would be the best way to whet my appetite for the hours ahead. Besides, I didn’t wanna look like an overgrown baby and watch Horton Hear A Who the moment the flight took off (although I really wanted to). “Business class Jo. You’re on business,” I thought to myself.

Anyway, the show, if you haven’t watched it, is about how a dad is telling his daughter the story of his sorry love life and she was trying to figure out who her real mummy is, amidst dad’s entertaining and in-depth sharings of all the women he dated. Turns out the movie was more entertaining than I first thought. I did figure out the plot halfway through the show becos the seemingly 'lead' actress said the movie title in one of the scenes and that sorta just gelled everything together for me. Oops, hope I didn’t spoil it for anyone but aiyah, it’s not rocket science. Oh my, I just realised that I didn’t use any Singlish for six days. Hahaha.

Anyway, my second movie was Horton! I’ve been wanting to watch it but didn’t get a chance to and was rather ecstatic to find it in the in-flight menu. The interesting thing about the show for me was the fact that I mentioned about being a speck of dust in my previous entry and this movie was about a little speck of dust which is settled on a flower and about an elephant’s quest to bring it to safety becos there’s a world living in that speck of dust. Very philosophical, if you ask me - A fitting reminder that there’s a big force out there looking after small me.

My last movie for the flight, and I only watched it becos I couldn’t get to sleep, was Fool’s Gold. I initially wanted to save it for the return flight. This was the most disappointing of the three shows. Apart from Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson (she’s one of my favourite actresses btw), the storyline’s predictable, tacky to a certain extent, and downright unrealistic. Of cos, being the sucker that I am for romance, I loved the ending. Oops, I hope that wasn't a spoiler once again.

Anyway, I’m now at the Auckland International Airport where I await my flight back to scorching Singapore. If the in-flight doesn’t change, I should be catching Vantage Point later. I know, it’s out of my league but hey, intelligent shows do appeal to me too.

Hopefully I will also get some sleep on the plane. I'm very freakin' tired.
