Nerdy Jo

Before I bury myself in the books, just thought I'd document this so that ten years down the road, I can show my kids how hardworking their mummy was. Is.

If our bodies are like rechargeable batteries that can only be charged once a year, this is the time I'll be using up the last ounce of it before it auto-shuts down and refuses to turn on again until next year.

I have a 5,000 word essay about whether new media is bringing the death of the print media. My thesis argues that it isn't, and that print media actually exploits new media to generate more profits while still keeping the conventional methods. Ironically, here I am, blogging (which is a form of new media btw), instead of flipping through mags and newspapers for inspiration. For what it's worth, I actually believe that new media is going to single-handedly murder print media in time to come. But based on my research so far, experts (in the print industry) are hopeful of their future. I think they're living in denial. Therein lies the second irony, since yours truly still hopes to work in the print industry one day.

I also have a 3-hour exam paper on Morphology - the study of the behaviour and combination of morphemes i.e. words in its smallest meaningful linguistic units. This includes the ten word formation processes, lexemes, function and form of sentences, SVOC analysis, etc.

Not fun at all, but this is the final lap for me. If I fall now, I will be the biggest loser. So wish me luck as I put on my student cap - hopefully for the last time.
