Soccer Mania II
Well ok, I'm back to swallow my words from my previous entry. Singapore beat Thailand in the finals, won the cup and emerged as defending champions...But but but, while I may be wrong about the score, I still stand firm on one fact: That Singapore soccer s-u-c-k-s. No qualms about that. Doesn't matter if we're the defending champions. We are merely the winners of the Losers. The best of the worst. The flies on top of the rubbish bin.
Don't get me wrong. I'm totally exhilarated that we won, but when you look at local soccer, or should I say ASEAN soccer, in its entirety, don't you ever wonder where all the good players have gone? I mean, seriously, are those mookooroos on the field really the best that the 2 countries can produce? As an annoying bystander who does nothing but criticize, I have nothing further to add. If it helps, I do hope the team will improve so that I can be proud that they kicked the opponent's asses instead of waving my tiny S'pore flag in the corner of my room, hoping that no one is catching a glance at me.
I still can't believe we won. OMG.
