You hypocrites...

He came to love you, teach you and be your friend,
But you've never once warmed up to him.
You tread cautiously around him,
Afraid to be judged, afraid to be wrong, afraid to be the person he wants you to be.
You hate his perfection, doubt his abilities, resent his words,
You let your prejudice rule the better of you.
You pray, you fast, you serve the Lord,
But deep inside, you are nothing but an empty shell.
With no love for him, no love for the people.
All your good works, done for selfish reasons.
You choose to do things your way, the easy way.
Choosing to remain in your comfort zone instead of seeking perfection.
You wait for the opportune time to disown him, to hand him over,
All these while, with him in the dark.
You never once looked into his eyes with love,
You hide behind a mask of deceit,
You tricked him into winning his favour.
But in the upper room, you plot and scheme.
You target those who are not on your side,
Indeed, the loudest voice shall be victorious.
Why don't you bring out your guts, fight like a man?
Oh wait, you can't, because you have nothing to say
All your words are a bag of lies,
Avoid confrontation or you'll lose anyway.
So do it the chicken-hearted manner,
Continue and pretend that everything is ok.
After all, it isn't your hands to hold that hammer.
It isn't you to give the command to kill.
But you see, that's not even the point.
He didn't mind dying, for you.
All he wanted was your love, your honesty, your friendship.
Sadly, you can't even give him that.
So if you'd ask me,
It is you, the pharisee, who pinned him to the cross,
It is you, the pharisee, who drove the nails into his flesh,
It is you, the pharisee, who killed him.
Stop being a hypocrite.
