Grey's Anatomy synopsis - Anger rears its ugly head

The folks at Seattle Grace Hospital started their day when a swarm of gunshot wound victims spills in from a shootout at a nearby restaurant. The manager of the restaurant, who suffered only minor superficial injuries, was the target of the escaped gunman.

One of his female employees had a fatal gunshot wound to the head and died. She is pregnant with a baby and her parents wants to use her corpse as an incubator while the foetus grows. Their gynae advised against it and they find themselves in a dilemma.

Danny, Izzy's current beau and hospital patient, who is on the waiting list for a heart transplant, is finally getting his new heart. Cristina and Dr Burke are in the middle of a lover's quarrel and when he picks Alex to travel with him to a neighbouring hospital to claim Danny's new heart, she was fuming mad and wants to break up with him. Upon hearing about the new heart, Izzy tells Danny the good news.

Dr Shepherd is mad with Meredith because he found out that she is dating their dog's vet. When his wife found out about their cold war, she snaps at him in front of their colleagues, saying that he doesn't care about her as much as he does for Meredith.

When Dr Burke faced some difficulties obtaining the new heart for Danny, Izzy lies to him out of desperation, telling him that Danny has gone into cardiac arrest. This, in hospital terms, automatically means that Danny will get the next available heart to save his life. Izzy starts to panic when she is unable to produce the clinical reports for Dr Burke. Dr Burke suspects that something is amiss and decides to make a trip back to Seattle Grace. Izzy decides to make the situation look real by sending Danny into a cardiac arrest.

At the end of the day, the manager of the restaurant who escaped death was discharged from the hospital. Moments after he stepped out, gun shots could be heard. Dr Bailey runs out to investigate. She finds the manager lying in a pool of blood and next to him, Dr Burke, an innocent passerby. In the ward, Izzy cuts the life support system, sending Danny into cardiac instability.
