Good day

Pulling myself out of bed at 8am on a Saturday morning is totally uncalled for, but despite my blanket and bolsters screaming out for more love and attention, I managed to crawl out and make my way to church. I enjoyed doing the symbolic input session for the servers. Although the turnout was a lot poorer than I had expected, I truly thank God for giving me the chance to share what I know best – Prayer. It’s an unexplainable feeling, being able to share the experience of communicating with God. In that two hours, I realised how much I’ve grown in Maranatha over the last eight years and how truly blessed I am to be in a position to inspire people to pray. Amazing.

Age must be catching up on me. The (usually) meticulous and attentive me felt like a complete bimbotic scatterbrain. I forgot to bring my guitar for the prayer session, and mind you, that’s quite a big object to miss. That left me a little jittery, so when I got home in the afternoon, I made extra efforts to go through the stuff-to-bring…Confirmation gifts, guitar, clothes for confirmation mass, a red packet (see below), and song chords. I guess I redeemed myself for my absentmindedness in the morning, or maybe not. I realised much later that I did forget something again – Jellybeans and gummies with juicy centres, which I had planned to give MPM. Darn.

After lugging a heavy bag and bulky guitar to church, Rach and I settled in the youth room to rehearse for the afternoon’s prayer session. But you see, being the kaypohs that we are, we couldn’t resist the two bouquets of pretty flowers lying on the table, which incidentally, had cards attached to it. So I thought, “What the heck,” and took a peek at the cards. Surprise of surprises, the flowers were meant for us. Thanks Herm and Gab for making my day a bright one with a very bright sunflower. I tell you, that flower is huge – What I would call the mother of all sunflowers. =)

I know that I’m really old because my dear brother got confirmed yesterday – Aloysius David Chia. (David means Beloved). I’m glad he, and many others, have persevered and stood strong in their faith. The road ahead will bring many challenges so let’s pray that the Holy Spirit will keep them rooted and forever faithful.

There’s always a first for everything. Last night, I attended my first Eurasian wedding. There were heartwarming speeches, a (very delicious) western buffet dinner, free sugi cakes as door gifts (I hope I spelled it correctly), and of course, dancing. Those retro songs and funky music really brought back sweet memories of D&Ds, minus the countdown. Oh, did I mention that booze was free-flow too? Cool stuff. I need more Eurasian friends.

To top off my very happening Saturday, I woke up this morning to find out that Germany won the match against Portugal. Hmmm…sweet victory.
