Rainy days and Mondays

Well you see, there is a saying that goes "zhuo nang kiang du hoe, mai gey kiang." Loosely translated, it means that in life, just be smart. Don't act smart.

I was leaving the office on Monday when I realised that it was raining. Incidentally, my colleague was leaving the office as well, so I asked her for shelter to the bus stop outside. I figured that by the time I reached my house bus stop, the rain would have stopped. After all, I've been pretty lucky when it comes to the weather and I was too lazy to carry an umbrella.

Turns out that when I reached my house bus stop, the rain was heavier than before, leaving me stranded at the bus stop for about 5 minutes. It was 6.50pm and I was dying to get home for dinner, so I decided to run in the rain.

When the opportunity came, I dashed across the road (Attempted to dash, since I was wearing heels.) But after barely taking 5 steps, I slowed down my pace...started taking slower steps and eventually ended up walking across the road. For that one split moment, it suddenly struck me how nice it feels to walk in the rain. I can't remembr when was the last time I walked in the rain, but as the raindrops started trickling down my face, I felt so...liberated! (Ya, that's the word - LIBERATED). It felt so good deep inside. Brings me back to good old days when you don't have to worry about wetting your school shoes, or smudging your makeup. You know, you just DO it. And as I walked, I just enjoyed the rain as it fell. I must have looked a bit crazy but the feeling was so surreal.

Well, don't get me wrong. Pls don't start walking in the rain every time it starts to pour. You'll fall ill! I guess what I'm trying to say, or rather, what GOD was trying to tell me is - To simply slow down and start enjoying the simple things in life. After all, what is the hurry?
