Worklife Crisis?

Today was like most other weekdays. Woke up, late. Contemplated about taking a cab. Eventually took a bus. Watched Richard Lui flashed his set of pearly whites on CNA. Made a mad dash to the office.

"Lord, I pray that this day will be good. Help me to remember that everything I have comes from You, even this job which I'm starting to feel tired of. Pls show me the way and give me strength to carry on." - My prayer said in the bus this morning.

So as usual, my day at work was hectic. Tight deadlines and eat-in lunches were becoming a routine. I was rushing to complete an intranet project today. Have been working on producing this newly revamped website for the past two months. The meeting with CEO was scheduled for 2.30pm. At 2.45pm, the IT personnel was figuring out some 'technical issues'. At 2.55pm, the meeting was cancelled. Pauline was fuming mad. I was disappointed. And the IT personnel was still figuring out the 'technical issues'.

Half an hour later, Kelvin (my dept's deputy director) walked into his office which is near my desk. He called for Pauline and myself.

"Oh no...", I remember thinking.

He waited for us to enter his office, then glanced at a piece of paper he was holding, smiled and handed it to me.

The paper read: "...Congratulations...we're pleased to inform you that you've been......PROMOTED."

Kelvin: "Congratulations. You deserve it."
Pauline: "Ya, thanks for all the hard work."
Joann (By now, wearing a big grin): "Thank you so much."

Hmmm...This is probably the cheesiest thing to say...but then again, what else could I have said...So ya, Kelvin and Pauline actually made my day. I mean, they've never 'made' my day anything less than stressful or difficult, so yup, today was really nice - The promotion that I've been waiting for.

And I only remembered as I was walking out of the hospital premises..."Lord, I pray that this day will be good. Help me to remember that everything I have comes from You, even this job which I'm starting to feel tired of. Pls show me the way and give me strength to carry on."

Wow God. You're AWESOME. Truly truly awesome. Thank you!
